Neurodiversity in Coaching Advanced Certification  

This is for you if you want more training and support to work with Neurodivergent clients

At Optimus our philosophy is always about working with the client as an individual: this training teaches you more about Neurodiversity and how we can effectively coach different clients improving your confidence in working with diverse clients and equipping you with more strategies and approaches.

It’s written by professionals with lived experience of neurodiversity alongside professional experience and training: Claire Farmer is the Director of Neurodive, Co-founder of the Autistic Girls Network as well as being a former Head Teacher and educational consultant with a focus on inclusion. Ruth Kudzi is the CEO & Founder of Optimus Coach Academy : a former Deputy Head Teacher who managed inclusion teams and had considerable training in the areas with a specialism in Psychology & Coaching alongside her own lived experience of ADHD & Dyslexia. 

The course is taught with a focus on practical activities, discussion and scenario based learning, it's a practical course so you'll be looking at how you can apply the learning in coaching sessions which we'll review.

This course is designed for existing coaches who want to specialize in coaching and supporting Neurodivergent clients or for those who have a keen interest in Neurodiversity: to use these skills with your clients we recommend you are trained as a coach. We will be looking at Neurodivergence through the lens of Neuroscience: understanding more about individuals brains as well as their context so we can support our clients more effectively. 

This course includes theory and practical coaching including mentoring and supervision. 

The syllabus includes:

Introduction to Neurodiversity

Neurodivergent clients : how they can show up and how we can support them : looking at definitions and real life case studies. Neurology, neurobiology and environmental influences. Ethical practice and safeguarding with neurodivergent clients . Trauma informed practice. Coaching the whole person: what this means in practice 

Coaching Clients With ADHD

What is ADHD? The brain and ADHD: executive function. Emotional regulation & ADHD: what to consider. Supporting your clients to make informed choices. How to measure progress in the coaching relationship. Strategies to support clients with ADHD 

 Coaching Autistic Clients

What is ASD? The brain and ADHD : executive function. Emotional regulation / coaching for emotions and ASD. Supporting your clients to make informed choices. Strategies to support clients with ASD

Coaching Dyslexic Clients

What is Dyslexia ? The brain and dyslexia: executive function. Supporting your clients to make informed choices. Strategies to support clients with Dyslexia 

 Coaching Clients With Complex / Multiple Neurodivergence 

Supporting the client as an individual. The brain and executive function. Strategies to support. Coaching clients with other types of neurodivergence 

 Neurodiversity In The Workplace

Identifying needs. Understanding brains and behaviour. Supporting leaders / managers and employees 

 Working Effectively With Clients Who Are Neurodivergent

Ethical practice. Use of diverse approaches. Creating a safe space : ensuring trust and safety 

 Trauma &  The Neurodivergent Brain

Trauma and executive function Mental health and neurodivergence 

 Working As A Coach When You're Neurodivergent

Working as a coach when you’re neurodivergent.Working with parents of Neurodivergent young people. 


The sessions include:

  • 3 hours of coaching supervision (group) on how to support neurodivergent clients 
  • 2 recorded coaching sessions with feedback where you’re coaching a neurodivergent client 
  • Reflective statement / summary
