In this video, I talk about how getting a diversity of different coaching experiences is something that is key to being a better coach. It helps you to build your experience and curiosity muscles.
The best coaches are those who continue to develop beyond their accredited training and have a growth mindset in relation to their coaching. Regular reflection helps to identify where you need to develop and areas to get support.
This can include:
– Journalling
– Meditation
– Walking in nature
– Taking some quiet time
Alongside personal reflection it’s recommended that as a coach you are engaged in regular supervision where you work with a qualified professional individually / in a group to work through what is coming up for you and your clients : this helps to ensure ethical practice and ongoing development.
Alongside reflection the best coaches are curious with their clients, they have a non judgemental approach and are able to hold space for the client to explore what they are thinking, feeling and experiencing. As a coach your role is to support your client to get new insights which will enable them to create new neural pathways to think, feel and act differently.
